Application examples and products
How does the technology work?
The biocidal, i.e., pathogen-killing effect of electrons is used on a large scale, for example, in the disinfection of food packaging, the sterilization of medical devices such as implants, and in the manufacture of vaccines. Electrons are characterized by their high effectiveness, the process reliability achieved, and their excellent energy efficiency.
The E-VITA process transfers this resource-saving, high-throughput, and non-selective disinfection method to plant technology for seed treatment.
The E-VITA process refers to the technical application of the energy required to kill bacteria, viruses, and fungi in free fall on seeds—whether in compact EV-140 systems or large EV-260 systems. With the E-VITA process, the required electron dose is applied evenly to the entire product surface in such a way that the harmful pathogens are killed in a fraction of a second without the possibility of developing resistance.

Practical experience

Annual production amount
The E-VITA process is based on decades of development and research. During this time, it has been proven in collaboration with independent federal and state institutions, large seed producers, breeders, and countless farmers that the technology is ready for widespread use.
In 2012, the first automated high-throughput plant was installed in Güstrow for this purpose. Thanks to the possibility of renting the plant since 2022 and the steady market entry of new cooperatives, agricultural traders, and farmers, E-VITA treatment has become the most important technology for non-chemical seed treatment. In 2025, approximately 40,000 tons of seed were treated using the E-VITA® PUR and E-VITA® PLUS processes.
To date, E-VITA-treated seed has been cultivated on a total area of over 2.1 million hectares.
This has already saved over half a million liters of seed dressing. Every year, more breeders, seed producers, and contractors add E-VITA®-treated seeds to their portfolios.
